Without a doubt mental health in workplace is an important topic. In fact, 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness of some kind every year. For this reason, we are likely to be working with clients or colleagues who are experiencing a mental health issue.
As coaches, we are 100% focussed on our client’s goals. Clearly, helping them achieve as much as they can. We want them to be successful and in a workplace setting. Furthermore, we want them to be engaged and productive.
For this reason, equipping ourselves with Mental Health First Aid skills is essential. These skills allow us to open up a valuable conversation when we feel someone may be experiencing a mental health issue. Importantly, we have proven approach to do so.
I found MHFA to be really informative in better understanding the experiences of someone on their mental health journey. The entire course has also deepened my ability in my personal life to support friends and family through their own journeys
Nick was brilliant – I was impressed with his knowledge of the content and I felt comfortable and relaxed. Nick maintained a positive and friendly approach and atmosphere which in these difficult times was quite remarkable.
The course made me more aware of how to deal with that initial phase of linking someone to support by providing a structure (ALGEE). Nick was really good at fostering discussion and giving examples really well to the main take-away points.
This course has given me a lot of knowledge that I did not have. It was clearly and comprehensively presented for the purpose of helping within a first aid capacity. But also the knowledge is useful to any human! Nick is very authentic, caring and truthful. He was respectful, engaging and fun.
Very practical course addressing mental health which provides valuable approach and resource to support someone with a mental illness. Useful in everyday life- just like a first aid course!
The course has demystified mental illness for me, and made me feel much more confident in being able to identify and potentially help someone experiencing mental health difficulties with compassion, understanding and above all some practical tools/knowledge. Nick was very engaging over Zoom, and I found him very easy to listen to, and relate to the information he was sharing.
This course has given me an important skill and working model (ALGEE) to round off my professional coaching services. Nick is a real professional. He creates a safe space and he listens well. When necessary, he was able to expand on topics and questions from attendees, both group webinars were excellent.
I really feel like I have learnt skills to aid someone with a mental health issue, wether that is day to day or during a crisis. These are lifelong skills that will hopefully help me help any community that I am a member of, as a parent, family member, friend, employee, employer, sportsperson.
The course was very practical and confirmed that the approach I use was correct in speaking to friends and colleagues that may have some mental health concerns. Nick made everyone feel relaxed and comfortable.
Nick was a great facilitator and was able to deliver the course over zoom really well. The course teaches you the ability to better identify the signs of mental illness and how you can best bring up the hard conversations and support the person.
